Tinplate-What is tinplate
Tinplate, also known as tinned iron, is the common name of electroplated tin thin steel plate, abbreviated as SPTE, which refers to cold-rolled low-carbon thin steel plates or steel strips plated with commercial pure tin on both sides. Tin mainly plays a role in preventing corrosion and rust. It combines the strength and formability of steel with the corrosion resistance, soldering and aesthetic appearance of tin in one material, which has the characteristics of corrosion resistance, non-toxicity, high strength and good ductility.Tinplate is an iron sheet coated with a layer of tin on the surface, which is not easy to rust, also known as tinned iron. This kind of coated steel plate has long been called "tinplate" in China, and some people think that because the tinplated sheet used to make canned food at that time was imported from Macao (English name Macao can be pronounced as horse mouth), it was called "tinplate". There are also other sayings, such as China's use of this tin-plated sheet to make kerosene lamp heads, shaped like a horse's mouth, so called "tinplate". The name "tinplate" is not exact, so in 1973, when the China Tin Plated Sheet Conference was held, it was called Tin Plated Sheet, and the name "tinplate" was no longer used in official documents.
